“Everything was going great until 5 or 6 months when her naps were really unpredictable, she was having false starts in the evenings and woke quite regularly during the night. We were very tired and it was tough going for awhile. And then we met Miriam and she was just fantastic to work with. She made a huge effort to get to know us, our daughter and to really identify what our needs were and what my daughter’s needs were. She came up with a personalised plan based on the most recent research on sleep and all the time put our daughter’s needs central to everything that she did. She always checked in to make sure that whatever we were doing, we were comfortable with and it was a really, really gentle approach that worked for us. Miriam was a fantastic support. She regularly checked in on us in a really supportive, encouraging, non-judgmental way. For us, it meant that the false starts finished so we had our evenings back. I was breastfeeding so my baby woke during the night to feed but it was much more manageable and there were so many small, practical things that we were able to do that just improved our sleep hugely. “I first linked in with Miriam when my daughter was 11 months old and I was finding it increasingly difficult to put her down for naps and bedtime. I felt she was resistant to sleep and waking regularly when she was down. On completing an initial phone call with Miriam and discussing some of my main concerns, we then completed a sleep diary. Miriam then provided us with a tailored plan consisting of invaluable advice. These subtle changes made such a big impact and allowed us to gain a daily routine of two consistent naps where we saw she was a lot more comfortable, along with nighttime which we have seen a great improvement in. I started to see a big difference within the first week alone and now after over one month, we haven’t looked back and she is sleeping pretty much through the night without waking. “I’m a second time mom to a 6 month old boy, Matthew. My first boy was a great sleeper from very early on and I was expecting the same from my second boy. I did everything the same the second time around, however Matthew was waking every 40 minutes to an hour every single night for months. I contacted Miriam after a particularly bad night where nothing was working to extend the sleep cycles. Miriam was so kind and reassuring and encouraging from the outset. She is so knowledgeable about everything baby and baby sleep related. It was really important to me that everything was as gentle as possible and Miriam’s practice is aligned with this. Miriam is so supportive to keep elements that are working for the family, for example I wanted to keep the soother for Matthew and Miriam was more than happy to work with this. Miriam completed a full sleep plan for Matthew following an in-depth discussion about Matthew and his routine and sleep patterns. I saw improvements in Matthew’s sleep quite quickly and now he is regularly sleeping the whole night. Any rare night that he may wake, his wake period is extremely short and he is very quick to settle. There were a couple of small tweaks to Matthew’s nighttime routine that Miriam suggested that I was skeptical would have any impact. The fact that Miriam was able to pick what seemed like minor details and recognise that they may be causing a sleep issue is testament to her knowledge of baby sleep. It feels that we have turned a parenting corner. Everything seems much easier following a full night sleep. The haze is starting to lift and there is now more energy in the day for my toddler and to do more for myself such as cook a healthy meal and get back into exercise. Our whole family is so grateful to Miriam and all her support and knowledge.”
